Welcome to our school, CEIP El Peñascal. Our school is situated in the beautiful town Segovia, which is approximately 90 kilometres northwest of Madrid. It is a relatively small town with about 55,000 inhabitants.
Segovia has several tourist attractions but it is most renowned for its Roman Aqueduct which dates back more than 2000 years.

Our school is a two form entry school with a total of 447 pupils. Each class has 25 pupils. Like most schools in Spain, our students start at the age of 3 (although school is not compulsory until the age of 5) and leave to go to secondary school when they are 12.
Perhaps the most distinguishing aspect of our school is its bilingual element. Our school was selected to pilot a project which aims to teach and learn English through a bilingual curriculum in 1996. Children start learning through English at the age of 3 when they enter the school.
The two Year 4 classes and teachers involved in this project are very excited to start this quad blogging project, as it gives purpose to our student’s learning. We look forward to learning about the lives and culture of the students in our partner schools. For the next fifteen days we’ll let you know about our school, class and ourselves.
Dear friends,
